Alafia Abures!
I hope that you are all well and abundantly blessed!
As for the construction of the Fats, I must say that they are built to last. Aside from having used some of the strongest epoxy to hold the staves together, there is what is what is called biscuit joinery used between each stave also. As I was waiting for my set to be completed (approx. 3yrs from time of order), I was contacting Rick Buschemi on a regular basis and he was sharing the construction portion of the drums with me. He explained that there are little slats placed in between the staves that are glued in like dowels only instead of long and round, they are flat and oval. This feature strengthens the joints between each stave.
As for sound, yes I conceed, it's a question of personal preference, however there has never been uttered the words of "they sound like crap", or "I don't like how they sound" from any other percussionist whom I've allowed to play them.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" (sorry, I don't know the orginator of the quote to site 'em) is probably the most appropriate statement here. The sound is another thing however, what with all of the amplification used these days.
Many blessings my brothers and sisters!
Respectfully,
Onile
