The reason I'm considering the switch is because of the great endorsements I keep reading on this board from those who actually own the Isla's. I'm still up in the air as to whether or not I'll first attempt a muleskin swap on the LP Gio's before I sell the Gio's (I just would like better sound from these things). But I may have to sell my Gio's in order to raise some of the $ for the Isla's... otherwise, I'd probably keep both sets. I'm not able to make that decision yet.
Fortunately for me, Isla is within driving distance and I'd probably take me Gio's over there to compare before making the plunge.
As for shipping conga's to England--- you have two big concerns...
1) Cost (and I'll bet this will be incredibly expensive)
2) Possible damage in transit.
If you are able to justify it, perhaps you could take a cruise ship vacation to Los Angeles and apply the several hundred that the shipping WOULD have cost to the cost of your cruise. I mention this as a possible option to check into, because you might be talking a LOT of money for shipping which can be considered a discount on your cruise (and there are bargain cruise tickets out there). If you will be able to quickly run into the city to pick up your drums (or have Isla bring them to the dock for a small fee), and bring them onto the ship, and into your stateroom, then perhaps you can avoid possible damage in transit as well. Just a thought, something to check into.
