You're right. Jay's workmanship is undisputed, but there's an appropriate place to talk about it. A thread focusing on Isla and Mario's work isn't it.

Per my phone conversation with Mario Punchard last night, this is his "just" his 3rd week back to work after his lovely wife, Almaz, gave birth to their new baby girl.

So, for all of those who have pending orders for Islas and are having a hard time being able to sleep at night  , although Mario is quite backlogged, your drums should be getting close to final production and delivery.

Don't worry, it'll all be worth the wait. I can vouch for the excellent sound of Isla drums, not to mention the very convenient weight. My set of canoe-wood quinto, conga and tumba (in Rosewood stain) are now just over 1 year old and, since the skins settled a few months after I got them, the sound has just gotten even fatter, warmer yet louder and with just the desirable amount of sustain (no ring).

All the best, :D

In this case/example/purpose, yes. It also helps to stop them sliding around on your lap.

Nice job by the way changuiri. 8)

Conga delicia are those your Babies? man they are the bomb, great character. What kind of wood is that? it kinda looks like Oak but from what I understand Mario does not make Oak Congas. Have you received them yet? or is this a picture sent to you by Mario? I was in his shop last week and man I was so excited just to be in there with all of those beauties, all the woods and colors. It's no joke Mario really knows his stuff, very knowledgeable about making conga drums and their sound, did you know that it took him aprox. 1 year to develop the sound that comes out of these awesome drums? Mario is cool people  He even let me film him playing to some rumba on a requinto, man was I ecstatic. Well once again congrats on your tambores, I haven’t the slightest doubt that you will be totally pleased with them and their sound  .
Adios.
