Marco! You scored Bigtime! Very nice indeed :)
My next drums will be Islas. I would get them over any other conga.
But, it just so happens that I'm in need of some bata.. And I've actually tapped on an Isla Iya, which had the best tone of any bata I've ever heard.

Marco, i told you you would be very happy, and fortuned...Delighted with Isla tumbadoras. Mario is very busy, put a lot of hours on each drum, for the perfect product. I think one of our top conga maker's of our day.

I had a good time ,reading the story, of what your wife did, That was veery creative, i think she just wanted to surprise you in a unique way.

I have personally played them, they are solid, belly on the right spot, for that great unique fat sound.
Each drum is special, they have a good belly, evry drum has it's curves, other drums been made have the same shape, the quinto, conga ,and tumba, all have the same shape.

But each drum suppost to have a different tone, and the shape of the drum, makes a difference in the tone quality.
If you look at most drums that have been made so far, they are pretty uniformed on the shape.

For the exception in my opinion of drums such as, Valje, Fat conga,

But above all Junior Tirado's and Isla's have that very unique belly.
The entire line of different size drums in their entire repertorio, each drum fro the Requinto, to the Tumba, they are all special, and have a unique shape, and sound.

Re: ISLA PERCUSSION - quality ?--New Isla topic needs to b start

I am shure all of us who have play Isla's agree that their sound is top of the line, unique.
Marco, and all other's who have them will cherish them, and touching the Isla drum's, is unlike touching any other drums.
They are solid, for life, unique pieces.

Guys, i think a very long tread about , Isla Percussion quality? has been made...

For all the passion, and hard work Mario puts in every drum, i dont think questioning the quality of Isla is right, and those who think other wise should play one, and if there are still those who hate on Isla's should call Mario personally and tell him, or go personally in his face. I don't thin anyone who is a honorable man, would deny the quality of Isla percussions. Yet there is the one's out there that have hated on Isla Percussion's on the hard working back of Mario.

The quality was questioned, on this 18 page tread.....And
Time and Time Again, Isla owner's have been delighted when they get their congas, surpass the definition of good quality percussions
We, the one's that have played ISLA know they are great percussions. Isla souns transcends any other sound on a folkloric level with the line of cannoe, and the cherry line of congas is also superb!

Therefor i believe a whole new topic about Isla drums need to be start.
Time after time the maker of Isla percussions, has proven his excellence, in making hand made percussions.
Proving the quaity of Isla percussions unquestionable.
There is nothing out there that sound like an Isla.

One thread is enough. No need to start another one to discuss the exact same thing. 2nd thread deleted.

So to keep this down to one thread about Isla Percussions I think it is important for those that own and have played Isla congas to keep it to this thread and post all their opinions good and bad in this thread. It is important for both the customers and Isla percussions to hear the feedback as this is how a company secures it's growth. It is also important for the consumers to hear all feedback on a product. A small business like Isla can benefit from the input in so many ways and knowing what their customers are looking for can go a long way. Mario is a great guy and a very intelligent man I'm sure he would not take offense to any constructive criticism at all he knows what he puts out of his shop and what is false and factual.
